Cape Cross
Cape Cross, located approximately 60 kilometers north of Swakopmund in Namibia, is a significant historical and natural landmark known for its large seal colony and historical associations. The main attraction at Cape Cross is the Cape Cross Seal Reserve, which is home to one of the largest colonies of Cape fur seals in the world.
The area gained historical importance during the 15th century when Portuguese explorer Diego Cão landed at Cape Cross during his expedition along the African coast. In 1486, he erected a stone cross, known as the Padrao de São Cristóvão, to mark his journey and to serve as a navigational aid for future sailors. The original cross is no longer present, but a replica now stands at the site as a symbol of this early European exploration.3 day Tour Swakopmund
